A Day at the Beach

Meet Jack and his two adorable pups, Jackie and Spike!

There is nothing better than letting a dog do what he loves most! Let them run free, as fast as they can with no care in the world, this would make anyone smile. If you’re ever having a bad day, grab a blanket and go to a dog beach. I only wish there were more dog beaches closer to home!

Aunt Cora’s Champion Mastiffs

Last year, Lew and I went to Dallas and I met Aunt Cora and her Mastiffs for the first time. I was a little taken back by their size and the fact that there were four of them. These dogs are her pride and joy, which is easily understood after being around them. Even though the Mastiff breed looks intimidating because of their size, they are the most gentle and loving dogs. They were so playful and curious about everything I was doing and this is when they use their size to their advantage. They would push or knock me over wanting to play or pin me down so they could be cuddly lap dogs. They make great pets, but Aunt Cora also shows her dogs and they have earned several championships.

Here is their story:

First, there is Hanna who weighs 195 lbs  and is 7 years old. Next is her little half sister Annie who weighs 170 lbs and is 6 years old. With only two dogs she decided to start a kennel so she could show her dogs within circuits. Soon after the kennel (better known as her house and backyard) was created more pups were on the way. Annie was frolicking around and got knocked-up by CH Eastwinds Semper Fi Forties Et Fidus. The results of this illegitimate alliance were the two flower girls.  CH Pine Valley Daisy, who weighs 180 lbs and is an AKC Champion, and CH Pine Valley Lily, who weighs 160 lbs and is also an AKC champion. However Lily has continued her work in the circuit and is also a Mexican Champion and a Pan American Champion.

Best Friends Animal Society Neighborhood Pit Bull Day – Downtown LA

I was lucky enough to help with the Best Friends Animal Society® first ever Los Angeles Neighborhood Pit Bull Day on October 30th, 2011. I set up a photo booth to capture all the different families with their best friends and boy where there some great characters that attended. However, there were many more breeds than just Pits. Below are just a few of the pictures taken, but all of the pictures can be viewed at: www.facebook.com/bestfriendsanimalsocietyla or http://www.pictage.com/1152365

Here are a few stats from the event:

- 500+ attendees and dogs

- 95 on-site spay/neuter surgeries (25+ appointments booked for upcoming clinics)

- 250 microchips implanted on-site

- Hundreds of free goodies given to those who attended: collar/leash sets, Kong toys, Natural Balance food, Mother Hubbard treats and much more.

Shalu

Shalu was a beautiful golden retriever that use to live down the street from me. I would always see her walking with her dad up and down the street greeting everyone with a sweet tail wag. Since these pictures were taken, Shalu was diagnosed with cancer. She recently passed away and the entire neighborhood misses her. I hope she enjoys doggy heaven!

Buddha & Parents

Toy Poodles

I had the pleasure of shooting a family of poodles and they were amazing! Tiny T, the dad, is a brown toy poodle that reminds me of the Snuggle Bear in commercials. Dewey, the mom, is a beautiful all white toy poodle that was sweeter than sugar. Buddha, the son, is a one of the most chill dogs I have ever photographed. His name suits him perfectly.

Here is what Buddha’s mom had to say about him: Buddha Jackson a.k.a BooBoo a.k.a Pupsqueak was born December 19, 2009.  He is a full-bred Toy Poodle and considered to be apricot color, but I think he looks like a golden brown color.  He weighs about 8 pounds is very loving and full of energy.  He likes to play outside with his momma, Dewey and daddy, Tiny T. Buddha also loves to lay in the sun and soak up some rays.
